Submitted by: Vinnie Glen4
When you are in Cape Town, you can not miss the beaches, there are plenty of them. The only problem with them is that they are so beautiful that it is difficult to choose the best ones. All of them deserve a visit.
However, if you are considering the popularity of the beaches, the Clifton beach will probably top the list. Placed between the Bantry Bay and the Camps Bay, Clifton has four beautiful coves. The rocky coves, their white beaches and the shelters have given the Clifton Beach the popularity that it has. With the Table Mountain overlooking you from behind, no wonder that the beach is one of the most sought after places in the Atlantic seaboards. The fourth beach is blue flagged and most popular among the lot. Since there is no shop and only one restaurant, it becomes very calm and quite in the night.
If you are looking for some place a little away from your Cape Town Hotel, the Strand beach will be the ideal one for you. The stretch of 5 km of white sandy beach will certainly make you lose words. The beach provides a lot of activities including the bathing, swimming, mini-golf, tidal pool and supertube. The town is located 40 km away from Cape Town, at the foot of Hottentots Holland Mountains. The proximity of the False Bay, Helderberg Basin, Gordon's Bay and Somerset West has made it an even bigger attraction for the tourists. There is a stretch between the mouth of Lourens River and Rooi Els, where you can find rock Anglers, beach fisherman etc. If you are in Strand, you get access to wine yards like Wellington, Stellenbosch and Franschoek. You can also visit Hermanus to watch out whales.
Blouberg Beach is yet another place to visit during your stay in the Cape Town hotels. It is placed between the Table View Beach and the Big Bay. The rock pools at the corner of it are certainly great. Also, you can get a beautiful view of the Table Mountain from this beach. It is normally windy and the waves splash on the rocks making a beautiful scene to watch. Other activities like the kite surfing or aerobatics are common here. You can also have a look at the Table Bay or reach the Table View to look down at the beach.
Muizenberg Beach is a relatively calm beach with mild waves. This has made it an ideal place to walk, swim and sunbathing. The colorful beach huts and white beach has added charm to this beach. There are also a couple of 18 holes putt-putt courses. Along with it, you can have water slides and refreshments. Body boarding and surfing are the two most popular activities here.
If you are interested in animals or have heard about the African penguins, the Boulders Beach is a place where you should be. However, to watch them, you have to walk a little from the main beach and enter a special beach designated especially for them. There are tickets to enter the beach. The main beach is very calm and ideal for snorkeling and swimming.
Apart from these beaches, there are Llandudno beach, Fish Hoek Beach, Hout Bay Beach, Sandy Bay Beach, Camps Bay Beach and Dolphin Beach that are worth visit.
