Tees Valley and Stockton

TeesValley and town's connected to the Tees Valley Namely Stockton-on-Tees Known to the area as Stockton. And what used to be Stockton County Durham and some would say still is, Stockton is now its own County, and near by towns like Billingham, would come under the county of Stockton-on-Tees.
Stockton has come under other counties been namely Cleveland and Teesside as well as County Durham.
Stockton, Middlesbrough, Yarm, Thornaby, Billingham, Norton and Hartlepool are towns surrounding Stockton and have all come under Cleveland and also Teesside at one time.
Sedgefield is another town surrounding Stockton and that too is part of the Tees area, Tees Valley is the new name of the area. Of which towns or parts like Preston, Eaglescliffe, Nunthorpe, and Long Newton to name a few are too part of the Tees Valley Area.
Stockton is a small town in the north east, and is close to the northern bank of the River Tees. Stockton is famous more so with its associations with the Darlington and Stockton Railway on which the first steam hauled passenger train was used in the world, back in 1825, Stockton today still has one of the oldest railway stations.
In Stockton and on the River Tees, There is now a range of water sports from white water rafting to canoeing.
And Upon the Stockton Riverside, we have the Princess Diana Bridge. And
The Tees Barrage, And the Millennium Bridge.
This impressive barrage/bridge was an expensive piece of engineering costing around £50 million. It was finished in 1992 and it is 70 meters long.
Victoria Bridge is the Oldest of all the Bridges, and is a crossing onto Thornaby.
Captain Cooks Ship!
Between the Millennium Bridge and Victoria bridge you can see a replica of Captain Cook's ship, the Endeavour this is quite unique and a highlight to Stockton.
The ARC is Stockton's cultural hub; this theatre is modern in design and concept.
The shows vary and offer something for everyone.
Stockton is more famous for its Market place in its high street town centre.
Stockton As a few small shopping areas, gambling Clubs and many pubs in its town centre.
The shopping centre, called the Castle Gate Centre, is where the original castle stood. The high street is also thought to be the widest in the country. The high street is the centre of attraction in the summer for The Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF) and has now been running a number of years. And The Legendary Echo and the Bunnymen, singer-songwriter Badly Drawn Boy and The Ordinary Boys were headline news at the 2007 Stockton Riverside Fringe Festival.
On the outskirts of Stockton and on your way to Yarm via road you will
see Preston Hall just of Yarm Road, Preston Hall was built in 1825. It
was opened as Stockton's first public museum in 1953.
The Stockton Town Folk are a friendly lot, and will always make an outsider feel at home and welcome.
