5 Mistakes Made By Dvd Sellers on Ebay

Submitted by: jilliani

Having an online business selling DVDs on Ebay can be extremely profitable. In a lot of cases there are a lot of these businesses that will go out of business just as quickly as they went in. There are five critical things that you should avoid if you want to be a success on Ebay.

#1 - Unprofessional Auction Listings

You never want your Ebay auction to appear as though a child built it. Having an auction listing that is a complete mess is not the way to go. If your listing is a complete mess you will not appear credible in any way to any of the potential bidders. Make your listings appear neat and orderly. Make sure that the description reads well and that it is free of spelling and grammatical errors.

#2 - Not Calculating Overhead Costs

If you see that the profit from the sale of your DVDs is not enough to cover your overhead costs then you are doing nothing but losing money. A big mistake that a lot of online business owners will make is that they do not calculate the overhead costs when they are deciding what they should charge for a DVD. When you calculate your overhead costs it is imperative that you include the listing fees, final value fees, shipping fees, and the cost of purchasing shipping supplies. After you figure these fees, then you can decide what you need to charge for a DVD.

#3 - Getting Behind On Shipping

So you begin to sell hundreds of DVDs and this is great. If you lack time management skills, you will get behind on your shipping. When selling any product it is critical that you ship in a timely manner. Manage your time and avoid upsetting customers by keeping caught up on your shipping and managing it in an orderly process.

#4 - Not Focusing on Repeat Customers

It is imperative that you try and build relationships with your customers. Sure, with your online business you are not dealing with them face to face, but the moment that they make a purchase from you a relationship begins. To be successful and maintain a repeat customer base, implement ideas like sending out a monthly newsletter and even sending them coupons for a dollar off of their next purchase. By enticing customers to come back and visit you, you stand a better chance of getting more bids on your auctions. Remember more bids lead to more money.

#5 - Poor Customer Service

Even if you don't ever plan on doing business with a customer again, you should never give rude or unprofessional customer service. After all, they can leave you negative feedback and if more than a couple eBay bidders leave feedback complaining about your rude and unprofessional behavior, it's going to cost you some business. Treat everyone with respect and make a good name for yourself and your eBay business.
