How does music influence the teens
Submitted by: kumar.byc
Music is one of the greatest wonders of the world. It influences mankind and fires principles. It can make the teens create illusions and can also influence them to become contributors to peace and progress. Teens want music the same way as the adults. They spend time listening to music and read issues about them. But unlike the adults, the teens can freely express themselves in music.
Why do teens love music? There are many reasons to this. Some teens love to listen to music because they just like to hear those musical instruments and even imagine that they can play them too. They have the ability to imagine that they are the drummers, guitarists, keyboardists and vocalists performing on stage. They can hear the roars of the crowds and how they love the way they shouted their names.
Music seems a safe haven to them, affording them the opportunity to escape from reality into a world where their dreams become 'real'. Is there someone who does not want to become popular? Music has lyrics which can connect with their real lives, thus music becomes an expression of their selves. Unfortunately, there are songs that the teens have to avoid. Lyrics on sex creates lusts for actual sex, and for good, they must not be allowed to stir the teens' imaginations. Music on violence creates the compulsion for macho images. Instead of teaching the teens to respect other teens, these lyrics entice them to easily kick others for just a slight misunderstanding.
Teens love recognition, but if possible, not this way. Unlike adults who are so busy with their works and other activities, the teens have all the time to listen to music in their rooms, in the parks and anywhere it pleases them. They do not care whether they would be dancing alone amidst the crowd with that headphones stuck to theirs ears. Just let those old folks frown at them. However, the teens must be selective when and where to listen to their favorite music.
Accidents especially in cars can be attributed to unsafe driving. And their foremost cause? Using mobile phones and being attentive to music while in dangerous curves and heavy traffic. The danger with teens taking much attention to music is that they may just be carried away. Music can motivate the teens to use alcohol and drugs while listening to their favorite music.
During funk concerts: the teens are seen shouting, clapping, jumping, dancing, hugging, kissing their girlfriends; some are high on drugs in concerts. And who knows what happens next. The good benefit that music brings is its ability to influence the teens to take action on relevant issues where their contributions can be counted.
The song 'We are the World' acclaimed as one of the greatest hits stirred the teens to contribute whatever amount they can spare to feed the hungry children in poor countries. Songs on environmental awareness motivate the teens to join tree planting activities in order to save Mother Earth. If music is important to the teens, so do the parents to them. The teens want their parents to discuss music with them, sing with them and laugh with them when the wrong key is hit. Thus, the parents must strive to understand their teens and give their parental guidance when needed.
