Arts Craft Flour

Submitted by: KevinB

The recipe for the basic arts craft flour is simple and can help keep children occupied for many hours while their creative minds work overtime until their masterpiece is complete.

The dough will need to be created from a straightforward recipe:

2 parts flour
1 part salt
1 part water

Mix the flour and salt while adding half of the water initially. Simply add the remaining water to the flour as required and knead the resulting dough until it is smooth and becomes workable.

When you have achieved workable dough you can begin to make all types of objects. Only your imagination holds you back. Normally it is advisable to start working with some basic flat shapes and keeping everything simple. Let your child help and encourage their imagination through subtle suggestion.

The demands of the child will normally far exceed abilities to conjure up what you imagine they desire. However, the childlike mind in its innocence will have a totally different interpretation than either you or me.

After the shapes have been created and the kitchen torn apart, it is time to put your creations in the oven and bake them. The oven temperature should be around 325 degrees Fahrenheit and depending on your creations may take from one hour to 90 minutes. The creation will be hot and you will know when it is ready if it is completely dry when you check on it.

There are many other more interesting arts craft flour recipes and even edible recipes. However, when looking for simplicity and low cost arts craft flour then the basic salt dough recipe normally does the job.
